Hampton Roads Best (& Worst) of 2002
Our Second Annual Reader’s Choice Awards reveals what titillates and frustrates us in Hampton Roads
Down with the road tax! Up with the Constant Convocation Center (the name still sounds like a brand of tea)! Out with the Vice Mayor (is that a job description?)! On with Harborfest as best tradition that should continue (and how did Virginia Arts Festival not get the nod?)!
One thing we have plenty of in Hampton Roads—opinions. You say tomayto, I say tomahto; we smile politely (well, most of the time) and privately concur that the other is wrong—possibly well-meaning, possibly misled, possibly just poorly informed, but wrong, nonetheless. That’s the best thing about “Best Of” sections: you get to sit back, smug and cozy, and rage to your heart’s content about What Idiot Would Actually Think Such A Thing. It’s hugely satisfying, and you don’t even have to get off the sofa.
