It can only be described as a love/hate relationship. The media make us laugh and cry. They keep us informed and opinionated while simultaneously driving us nuts. Dick Lamb & the Breakfast Bunch tickle our funny bones every weekday morning while locally-produced advertisements like the one from Mattress Discounters make us want to pull our collective hair out. (Surprise: No nods to the Ch-Ch-Chimney Hill gals?)
Admittedly, we have our favorites. Barbara Ciara—HR Monthly’s first cover woman—is the television anchor we turn to for the latest news. The big smile of Bruce Rader—along with his chatter and stats—are your favorite in the numbers game of sports. And as annoying as Daily Press and Virginian- Pilot columnists often times are, the opinions of Pilot columnist Kerry Dougherty seem to be the ones that HR Monthly readers grapple over most.
